Coral Restoration, Spawning Discoveries and Education in Action
Ocean Gardener x ClubOcean®

This month, Ocean Gardener resumed active restoration work with strong results in the field. A total of 739 corals were planted, while significant efforts were made to protect reef health through the removal of 208 Drupella snails and 15 crown-of-thorns starfish, both major coral predators.
The team also closely monitored coral reproduction, carrying out 12 night dives dedicated to spawning observations. These efforts led to the identification of 8 different coral species spawning, providing valuable insights to support future restoration and conservation strategies.
Alongside fieldwork, Ocean Gardener continued its educational mission by introducing coral reef restoration to 14 local high school students from North East Bali and 20 international school students, helping raise awareness and inspire the next generation of ocean advocates.
Finally, the team took part in the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) Bali conference, contributing to broader discussions on ocean conservation and strengthening connections within the global marine protection community. 🪸🌊💙

Inspiring the Next Generation of Wildlife Care Professionals
Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat x ClubOcean®

This month, the team at the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat welcomed students from Northern College as part of their Veterinary Technology, Wildlife Rehabilitation program. This long-standing partnership, now running for over a decade, offers students a full day of hands-on experience alongside the animal care team.
Throughout the day, students actively contributed to the care of the bears by preparing their daily diets, learning about preventative veterinary practices, observing and recording behaviour, and creating enrichment items to stimulate natural activities. The highlight of the experience came when students were able to safely enter the enclosures to place the enrichment they had designed, later watching the bears interact with and enjoy their creations.
This initiative reflects Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat’s commitment to education and knowledge-sharing, helping train and inspire future wildlife professionals while continuing to provide high-quality care for the bears. 🐻❄️🎓💙

Supporting Shark Restoration in Thailand
Shark Guardian x ClubOcean®

This month, Shark Guardian took part in a key milestone for shark conservation through its involvement in the StAR Thailand Project in Phuket. A new cohort of baby leopard sharks (zebra sharks), transferred from a breeding program in Phuket, began the next stage of their journey in a sea pen near Maiton Island. There, they are adapting to ocean conditions, learning to hunt, and preparing for a future release into the wild within the coming year.
During this period, Shark Guardian representatives witnessed the sharks’ first health check, including ultrasound examinations to assess vital organs such as the liver, heart, and lungs, as well as general measurements. The young sharks were also introduced to new feeding behaviors, marking an important step in their transition toward independence.
This project represents a collaborative effort to restore shark populations in areas where they were once abundant. Through its involvement, Shark Guardian continues to support innovative, science-based initiatives that contribute to rebuilding marine ecosystems and giving endangered species a second chance in the wild. 🦈🌊💙

Community Cleanup and Environmental Awareness in Jimbaran
R.O.L.E Foundation x ClubOcean®

This month, the R.O.L.E. Foundation organized a beach cleanup at Queen Beach, Jimbaran, bringing together 47 participants, including 18 students from SD 3 Kutuh, R.O.L.E. Foundation team members, and volunteers. The initiative aimed not only to remove marine debris but also to raise environmental awareness among the participating students.
During the cleanup, a total of 402.4 kg of inorganic waste was collected. The majority consisted of residue (68.3%), followed by hard plastics such as bottles and packaging (11.7%), and rubber waste including slippers (9.0%), highlighting the ongoing issue of mixed and degraded waste accumulating along the shoreline.
All collected waste was carefully sorted and managed responsibly by the R.O.L.E. Foundation team. Recyclable materials—including glass, plastics, rubber, and aluminum—were sent to local Waste Banks, while residue and textile waste were transported to landfill for proper disposal. This action once again demonstrated the impact of community engagement in protecting coastal ecosystems and educating younger generations. 🌊♻️
